AAFA emphasizes it is critical to ensure people with asthma and allergic conditions can access essential life-saving medicines that (1) treat the underlying disease and (2) stop symptoms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nAsthma, allergies, atopic dermatitis, and other related allergic conditions cause significant distress and emotional, social, and financial burden on the people with these conditions. In the United States, there are about 4,000 deaths per year due to asthma and allergies. - About 82 million people in the U.S. (1 in 4) have rhinitis due to nasal allergies, also called \u201chay fever\u201d (67 million adults and 14 million children).3,4<\/sup><\/li>\n
- Around 21 million adults and more than 9 million children in the U.S. have eczema. This equals about 8 out of 100 adults and 13 out of 100 children.5,6<\/sup><\/li>\n
- There is no cure for asthma or allergies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
